From enrichment to agentic workflows: redefining how financial data works

Spade’s API set the bar for transaction enrichment. Now, Spade’s Agent Layer automates high-impact financial processes and connects enriched data directly to action.

The next chapter of Spade is here.

Spade’s API set the bar for transaction enrichment, turning messy transaction strings into verified, structured data that teams can trust. Now, we’re helping those teams take the next step: getting value from that data automatically.

With the launch of our first agentic workflow, attribution, Spade introduces the Agent Layer — a modular system that automates high-impact financial processes and connects enriched data directly to action. The Agent Layer takes on the high-friction work financial institutions have always had to build and maintain themselves, like rewards attribution or merchant validation.

Spade still plugs easily into existing systems, but now does more of the heavy lifting out of the box, helping teams move faster and focus on building differentiated experiences instead of infrastructure.

From enrichment to intelligence

Spade started by solving one of the most fundamental data challenges in finance: messy transaction strings that make it hard to see who a customer actually transacted with. Our enrichment engine transforms those strings into clean data linked to real businesses delivering consistent merchant, category, and location data across cards, transfers, and third-party sources

That foundation remains at the core of everything we do. Now, we’re building on it.

With the launch of our Agent Layer, Spade is evolving from a data enrichment engine into a transaction intelligence platform, connecting our proprietary database  directly to action and outcomes. Whether it’s powering faster authorizations, clearer analytics, or personalized rewards, Spade combines the data layer and the workflow layer in one platform.

What agentic workflows do

Each of our agentic workflows automates a process that relies on clean transaction data; things like rewards programs, merchant validation, or income detection.

By handling those processes within Spade, our customers can:

  • Reduce manual effort and operational overhead
  • Launch new experiences faster
  • Maintain flexibility and control over their logic and data

Customers can choose whether to activate Spade’s ready-to-use agentic workflows or build their own automations on top of Spade’s enrichment engine. Either way, they benefit from verified, structured data feeding into their systems, models, and customer experiences.

Introducing the first Agentic Workflow with Bilt: Attribution

The first workflow available in our Agent Layer is live today, already helping customers move faster and reduce costs.

Our Attribution Workflow automates the process of matching transactions to the correct merchant and location, eliminating the manual mapping that typically slows down rewards programs and introduces errors.

Spade’s first partner for this workflow, Bilt, has relied on Spade’s core enrichment for nearly a year to help power what has been named the most valuable rewards currency in the market. That enrichment helps Bilt identify real merchant names and locations across billions in card spend — giving a clear, more trustworthy view of where members earn rewards.

As Bilt’s rewards ecosystem grows, attribution accuracy becomes increasingly critical. The team wanted a faster, more reliable way to confirm which transactions matched partner merchants, without the time-consuming manual checks that slowed down launches and increased customer support requests.

With the Attribution Workflow, Spade and Bilt are taking that next step together. Built on the same enrichment foundation, the workflow will automate partner matching, bringing greater speed, accuracy, and consistency to the data that powers Bilt.

What this means for Spade

The launch of our Agent Layer marks an important step in Spade’s evolution, from an API provider that delivers clean data to a platform teams can build on and build with. It connects enrichment and automation in one place, giving customers a faster, simpler way to turn transaction data into value.

And this is just the beginning. Attribution is the first of many agentic workflows that will make clean, structured data instantly usable across every transaction type.

As we continue to expand the Spade platform, our goal remains simple: help financial institutions get more from their transaction data with less effort. By combining enrichment and automation, we’re giving teams the tools to move faster, operate smarter, and deliver better, more personalized experiences for their customers.
